ADAMS, William Theodore "Bill", 50, of Henrico, died January 29, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar W. Adams Jr. Bill is survived by his mother, Marian V. Adams; son, William Tyler Adams Sr. and wife, Shannon; daughter Jennifer R. Adams; grandchild, William Tyler Adams Jr.; sister, Kim A. Clemons and husband, David; brother, Edward P. Adams and wife, Amy; all of Richmond. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Adkins II, Donald Ray

ADKINS, Donald Ray II, 42, of Mechanicsville, Va., left this world to be with our Father on Friday, January 30, 2009, after fighting a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Adkins. He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Adkins; four daughters, Tara Herren, Alyssa Adkins, Somer Adkins and Sadie Adkins; his mother, Charlotte Adkins; grandmother, Nanny Ruth Odle; brother, Doug Adkins and wife, Cindy; sister, Revina Payette; brother-in-law, Walter Payette; father-in-law, Ray Lett; mother-in-law, Linda Estis and husband, Wayne Estis; sisters-in-law, Cindy Farrar and husband, Frankie, Connie DeVed and husband, Dean, Jill Dunn and husband, Christopher, and Kim Talley and husband, Barry; dear friends, Mary Ellen Davis and Scottie Dowell; eight nieces, Randi, Delani, Dawn, Chloe, Sarah, Whitney, Melody, and Maurissa; seven nephews, Brandon, Mitchell, Will, Nathan, Baby Dean, Austin and Noah; also many other family and friends. Donald was a loving husband, father, and son, and a dedicated employee of Coca-Cola. His love was all the women in his life. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him. Akers, Eskrine D.

Eskrine D. (Whitey) Akers, of 704 Vandola Church Road, died January 31, 2009 at Danville Regional Medical Center. He had been in declining health for several years. Born August 10, 1931, in Floyd County, Va., he was the son of the late Rev. Waddie H. Akers and Maude Moore Akers. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred A. Roberts. He graduated from Willis High School, Willis, Va., Class of 1948. He was first married to the late Patsy Knowles Akers. He later married (his angel) Sally Hyler Akers. In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by three children, Robert Canada, III and wife, Becky, of Youngsville, N.C., Sundi Canada-Moody, of Raleigh, N.C. and Staci Canada Purnell and husband, Joe, of Danville, Va.; four grandchildren, Ryan Canada, of Roanoke, Va., Ryan Moody, of Raleigh, N.C., and Ethan and Emily Purnell, of Danville, Va., manager. He then started his own company, Akers Heating & Air Conditioning Service, Inc., which he operated for 30 years and retired., He attended several schools in the field of heating and air conditioning. He attended Danville Community College (DCC) in a course of basic electricity and electronics. He served on the Board of Directors at DCC in the Heating and Air Conditioning Department, was a member of Westover Hills Volunteer Fire Dept. for 28 years, where he served as Captain, Lieutenant and Chief and on the Board of Directors was voted honorary life time member, served on the Board of Directors at the Bachelors Hall Volunteer Fire Department and voted honorary life time member, and was a member of the American Legion Post 325 and VFW Post 647., will be at Vandola Baptist Church, 1950 Vandola Church Road, on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Lancaster and the Rev. Bob Yeaman officiating. The family will receive friends at Vandola Baptist Church from 5:30 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Thomas Edward Asbury Jr., 67, of Bland died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Bland County Nursing and Rehab Center in Bastian. At his request, he will be cremated. There will be no visitation or funeral service. He was born March 5, 1941, in Bluefield, W.Va., son of the Lydia Bell Hall and Thomas Edward Asbury Sr. He is survived by two daughters, Anita P. Loving of Bland and Sherri Asbury of Wytheville; a brother, George A. "Tuffy" Taylor North Carolina; two granddaughters, Leantha Michele Smith of Roanoke and Shanna Elysse Fulford of Bastian; and three great-granddaughters, Brittany Horsley and Brianna Horsley, both of Roanoke, and Valeska Fulford of Bastian. Ruby Crabtree Atwell, 93, of Ceres died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009. Funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. at Sharon Lutheran Church with Pastor Will Shelton and the Rev. Kathy Haga officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She was born Oct. 13, 1915, daughter of the late Basil Marvin and Ethel Ward Crabtree. She was a retired teacher having taught in Bland and Smyth counties and touched the lives of many children over the years. She was a member of the Bland County Retired Teachers Association and the Smyth County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Red Oak Union Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Bryson Atwell; her only brother, Marvin Ward Crabtree; and a sister, Kathleen Crabtree. Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor Rose of Winterpock and Lillian Hall of Boones Mill; a son and daughter-in-law, Archie Bryson and Darleyne Atwell of Ceres; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Laura and Joseph Dunker of Richmond, Evangeline Casey and William C. Neel of Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Charles Atwell and wife, Melissa, Jim Atwell, John Neel and wife, Catherine, and Laura Mills and husband, Dwayne; and six great-grandchildren, Nathan Atwell, Maika Atwell, Emily Mills, Grace Neel, Virginia Neel and Rosemary Neel. Pearl W. Barlow VIRGINIA BEACH - Pearl W. Barlow, 92, went to be with the Lord Jan. 29, 2009. Pearl was born June 12, 1916, in Portsmouth, to the late William Henry and Goldie Mae Wyatt. She spent many years as a beautician operating her own business. In 1971, she moved to her home in Virginia Beach where she enjoyed life to its fullest. Pearl had a deep love of flowers, gardening, cooking, music and entertaining her many friends and family. Pearl was preceded in death by two husbands, Gordon F. Kariger and John G. Barlow; a son, Gordon F. Kariger Jr.; and a grandson, Gordon F. Kariger I. Survivors include her daughter, Gwendolyn Stegmeier (Gunther) of Maryland; sisters, Mary Atkins (John) and Norma Niles, both of Norfolk; grandchildren, Bruce Stegmeier (Debbie) and Rick Stegmeier, all of Maryland, Denise Lyon (Ed) of Virginia, Robin Meese (Jeff) of Georgia, Wendy Forsman (Jeff) of North Carolina and Kara Williams of Virginia. Feb 1, 2009 Billy Jack Harbour, 81, of 2532 Old Leaksville Road, Ridgeway, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. He was born in Kinston, W.Va. on Nov. 11, 1927, to Drurie Thomas and Addie Young Harbour. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Davidson Harbour. He was an Army veteran and a retired inspector for West Window Co. Surviving are two sons, Michael Thomas Harbour of the home and Anthony Steven Harbour of Richmond; a brother, Drurie "Junior" Harbour of Eden, N.C.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. BYRNE, Kenneth P., D.D.S., devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and oral surgeon, born on June 10, 1951, died January 28, 2009, after valiantly fighting bile duct cancer since 2005. Dr. Byrne is survived by his wife, Judy Jacobs Byrne of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughter, Shea Elizabeth Byrne from Kunming, China; as well as his adult daughters, Ashley Lauren Byrne-McAleese of Stafford, Va., Rachel Anne Byrne-Domina and Jennifer Lynn Byrne. He is further survived by his mother, Mildred Paul Byrne of Richmond, Va.; his sister, Cynthia Byrne Lilley of Richmond, Va.; and his brother, John Franklin Byrne of Midlothian, Va. Dr. Byrne is also survived by eight grandchildren, Alexis, Trentin, Haylee, Chloe, Amaya, Riley, Callie, and Cori. He received his Certificate of Residency: Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Naval Hospital in Oakland, Calif., in 1987. He achieved the 99th percentile ranking for both year group and overall, on the National Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Inservice Training Examination (OMSITE) for both the second and third years of residency training. Dr. Byrne, a native of Richmond, Va., had practiced dentistry for over 23 years, with 13 of those years in the United States Navy. Dr. Byrne had been in private practice in Woodbridge, Va. since 1991. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, February 20, 2009 at 11 a.m., at Pohick Church, 9301 Richmond Highway, Lorton, Va. 22079. In keeping with Dr. Byrne's wishes, he has been cremated. Immediately following the service, his ashes will be buried in the Pohick Church Cemetery. Clodfelter Jr., Paul Larkin

CLODFELTER, Paul Larkin Jr., of Richmond, entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2009. He is survived by his bride of 47 years, Marguerite Tabb Clodfelter who was the light of his life. He is also survived by a nephew, Charles Field V of Florida. Mr. Clodfelter leaves his devoted and loving caregivers, Erica Settles-Wood, Desiree Trotman and Leila Pirazov to continue to care for his wife. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Mr. Clodfelter served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and later was a commander in the Naval Reserve. He also worked for many years in the tax department of Seaboard Airline Railroad. Mr. and Mrs. Clodfelter have been lovingly cared for at St. Mary's Woods for the last 12 years. COLLINS, Norman W., was born on May 25, 1918 and died January 30. He is survived by sons, Norman Collins Jr. and wife, Martha, of Concord, N.C. and Rev. Robert Collins and wife, Patti, of Richmond Va.; four grandsons, Keith, Aaron, Shaun, Nathan; and one granddaughter, Shannon; two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Aili. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, of more than 50 years; and son, David. He served our country in WWII in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Feb 1, 2009 David Shumate Bryant, 86, of 11115 The Henry Road, Henry, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Franklin County on Oct. 4, 1922, to Harry David Bryant and Estelle Shumate Bryant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Hazelwood Bryant; a sister, Page King; and two brothers, Hugh D. Bryant and Joe H. Bryant. He served in the Army during World War II and worked in the Powerhouse at DuPont for more than 34 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his daughter, Joan B. Harris of Fieldale; a son, Ralph S. Bryant of Henry; three sisters, Betty Gardner of Rocky Mount, Ann Tyree of Henry and Sue Bowyer of Collinsville; a brother, Jerry D. Bryant of Henry; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett, with the Revs. J.D. He made his home in the Swords Creek and Doran, Va., areas his entire life, was a disabled coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local Union No. 1256 of Duty, Va. He was a U. S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran and was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Alice Osborne Dye, and one grandson, Ronnie Lee Hurt, II. Feb 1, 2009 Elbert J. Carter, 73, formerly of 1728 Peach Orchard Road, Axton, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at Salem Health and Rehab in Salem. He was born in the Axton community of Pittsylvania County on July 25, 1935, to Sam Kendrick Carter and Lula Herndon Carter. His parents preceded him in death. He graduated from Brosville High School, where he played baseball and basketball. He served with the Army Military Police at Walter Reed Hospital, and he worked as a salesman for National Homes in Martinsville and later at Laurel Park Amoco Gas Station. He was a Baptist by faith. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Parrish Carter; a son, Michael A. Carter of Axton; a brother, Billy C. Carter of Axton; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel in Danville with the Rev. Gary Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the Herndon Carter family cemetery at Axton with military honors by American Legion Dan River Post 1097. ELDER, Kathryn Wright, 66, of Petersburg, died Friday, January 30, 2009 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with MS for over 34 years. She was a native of Petersburg born the daughter of the late Augustus and Louise Wright. Kathie was a member of Christ & Grace Episcopal Church, a co-founder of the Petersburg Chapter of the MS Society in 1975, and helped with the American Cancer Society. She also enjoyed visiting residents in local nursing homes, especially the Petersburg Home for Ladies. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Ronald T. Elder Sr.; two sons, R. Thomas Elder Jr and his wife, Sonyia, and Charles A. Elder and his girlfriend, Penny; three grandchildren, Brett, Jake, and Kailey Elder; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Tucker and husband, Larry; a brother, Cleveland A. Wright and wife, Suzanne; and her best friend and caretaker, Gail Evans. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sallie W. Harrison. FULLER, Nancy Tuttle, age 70, born October 23, 1938, died January 23, 2009, following 17 years of fighting breast and bone cancer. She graduated from Classical High School in Providence, R.I. in 1956, University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor's degree in 1963, and University of New Hampshire with a Master's in Microbiology in 1966. She worked for the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland from 1966 to 1977 with Dr. Robert H. Bassin and Dr. Peter J. Fischinger; Medical College of Richmond, Virginia with Dr. Michael Goldman; and University of Tennessee Medical Center with Dr. Michael Goldman and Dr. Carmen Lozio. Nancy was a member of the Crestwood Hills Garden Club, the Crestwood Hills Thursday Luncheon Group, and skated in the Nutcracker on Ice at the Ice Chalet. She is survived by her husband, Gregory A. Fuller; son, Kevin Scott Fuller of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and brother, Stuart Knight Tuttle of Los Angeles, California. Gilliam Sr. He was a lifelong member of the Union Branch Baptist Church of Chesterfield, Va. Deacon Gilliam was educated in the Chesterfield County Public School System. He was a 1962 graduate of Carver High School of Chester, Va. He was first employed with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company for more than 23 years, and then with Reynolds Metals Company, retiring in 2003. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene D. Gilliam Sr.; and his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Goldie Bassett Sr. Surviving are his devoted and loving wife, Arletha Bassett Gilliam; daughters, Artrice Harris (Lt. Col. Mr. Golden was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late George H. Golden Sr. and Lilly Dietz. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Bessie Mae (Back) Golden; three daughters, Patricia Marie Simmons of Virginia Beach, Katherine Darlene Golden of Virginia Beach and Linda Mae Thomas and husband Joe of Virginia Beach; brother, Edward Eugene Turner and wife Sue of Hixson, Tenn.; sisters, Annabelle Honeycutt and husband Shane of Ringgold, Ga.; Louise Robinson of Memphis, Tenn., and Elaine Matherey of Chesapeake. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed family outings surrounded by his seven grandchildren, Georgina Nelson and her husband Scott of Hixson, Faith Randle and her husband John of Virginia Beach, Hope Poulter and her husband Chuck of Chesapeake, David Van Hoose of Virginia Beach, Stephanie Arrington of Virginia Beach, Nicole Rhodes and her husband Kevin of Virginia Beach and Gene Arrington of Chesapeake and 13 adorable great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and was very proud of all of them. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. He served 30 years and retired as a lieutenant commander. He fought with no regrets in serving his country through World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was the engineering officer aboard the ill-fated USS Liberty (AGTR-5) that was attacked during the Six-Day War. He was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart for his heroic achievements June 8, 1967. His ribbons and medals included the Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon (1941), Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Berlin Airlift Ribbon, two Silver Stars and two Purple Hearts, UN Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with three stars, Korean Service Medal, ROK War Service, China Service, American Defense, National Defense One Star, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign with two Silver Stars, Europe-Africa-Middle East, World War II Occupation Medal Navy, Victory Medal World War II, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with two stars, Vietnam Campaign and the U.S. Vietnam Service Medal. He was a member of Norview Lodge No. 113 AF & AM. He completed 51 years of Membership in the Masonic Fraternity. George was the Past Potentate of Khedive Temple. He served on the Board of Governors at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville for 10 years. Additional assignments included past secretary and treasurer South Atlantic Shrine Association, Past Commander of Legion of Honor, Past Captain of Mini-Model "T," Director of Uniform Units, past president of South Atlantic Motor Corps Association, member of the Virginia Beach Shrine Club and honorary member of numerous Shrine Clubs. He was the Past Commander of the National Sojourners, Chapter No. 424 and Past Commander Heroes of '76. He was a member of DAV Branch 20 and Fleet Reserve 99. He served as a deacon at Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Chesapeake. He is a member of Parkway Christian Center in Chesapeake. His interests included fishing, boating and international traveling with his wife. He was an avid "Cowboy" fan and he never met a stranger in his life. He had a great sense of humor and possessed the unique ability to make people laugh. He was often called "Twinkle Toes" by his daughters due to his love of dancing. He never lost his sense of humor during his final days. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the entire Hospice Staff of Chesapeake. GRAHAM, Dr. Ota Treville "O.T." Jr., 83, of Richmond, died peacefully, Friday, January 30, 2009, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Frances Satterwhite Graham. In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Claude T. Graham and his wife, Meg, and their daughters, Liza, Ellen and Katharine; Anne C. Mauck and her husband, Andy, and their children, Isabel and Graham; Ota T. Graham III, "Trip", Catherine G. Reynolds, "Kate", and her husband, Nicholas, all of Richmond; two brothers, George T. Graham of Richmond and William T. Graham of Parksley, Va., on the Eastern Shore; a sister, Mary Sue Atkins of West Chester, Pa.; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Dr. Graham graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1943. He entered the Accelerated Program of the School of Pharmacy at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) in 1944, before joining the U.S. Navy. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, and was attached to the 1st Marine Division of the 7th Marine Regiment in China as a Pharmacist Mate, 3rd Class. He returned to Richmond in the fall of 1946, and entered the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He graduated with a B.A. degree in 1949. He received his medical degree from MCV in 1953, and then completed two years of family practice residency there. He was in private practice for 43 years, before retiring in 1998. He was an active member of the MCV Alumni Association, and served as its president for two years. He was a member of The Richmond Academy of Medicine, Medical Society of Virginia, Association of Family Practitioners, and the Southern Medical Association. He enjoyed a long affiliation with Retreat Hospital and the Home for the Daughters of the Confederacy. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and All Saints Episcopal Church. Over the years, he treated thousands of patients, and will be remembered for his willingness to help others, his easy smile, and his gentle manner. He loved his family, his practice, his patients, the family cottage at Sandy Point, and gardening, especially taking care of his azaleas. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, at All Saints Episcopal Church. A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., he was an airplane mechanic with Northrop-Grumman Corporation. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a soccer coach for the Indian River Recreational League for more than 15 years. He was an avid supporter and photographer for Indian River Middle and High School wrestling teams. He also enjoyed supporting Indian River High School Baseball. He had a strong passion for loving his family, helping others and enjoying life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Mary E. HAWKINS, Melvin Clyde "Joe Zilch," 89, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord January 30, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Catharine Ryman Hawkins, and is survived by his children, M. Eugene Hawkins (Dawn), Marion H. Bryant (Vernon), Claire H. Spicer (Dick), Richard R. Hawkins; granddaughters, Emily, Rebecca and Jessica Hawkins, Meredith Bryant, Cameron and Dillon Spicer; brother, Edwin Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins attended Richmond Public School and is a graduate of the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he served as a commissioned officer and was honorably discharged as a Lt. Communications Officer in August 1946. He received the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. He served his tour of duty at Naval Air Stations in the U.S. and North Africa. Mr. Hawkins was a retiree of Reynolds Metals Company where he worked as a Plant Chemist, Metallurgical Chemist, and Lubrication Engineer. The last 16 years at Reynolds, he worked in the Can Division as a Division Process Engineer and Division Lubrication Engineer. In his various roles, he traveled extensively within the U.S. and internationally to Reynolds' facilities. He retired in 1982. Mr. Hawkins was a Past-Master of Manchester Lodge #14, the Scottish Rite and the ACCA Temple Shrine, past Commander of American Legion post #137. He was a railroad enthusiast and a volunteer at Railroad Museum of the Old Dominion Chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society. He is a former Boy Scout and Scout Leader and Past President of the Manchester Gang and SO-KI Club. He was a lifelong member of Asbury Memorial UMC where he taught Sunday School. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, and knack for playing practical jokes. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday February 2, 2009 followed by a Masonic Memorial Service at 8 p.m. at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10). John Earl Lewis, age 89 of the Thompson Valley Community in Tazewell, Va., died Thurs., Jan. 22, 2009 at his home. He was born March 13, 1919 at Washington, DC, and grew up in Marshallberg, N.C. He lived in Beaufort, N.C. from 1948 until 1975 when he and his wife, Lyde Thompson Lewis, moved to Tazewell, Va., where they resided on her family farm in Thompson Valley, Va. Mr. Lewis was saved by grace as a teenager and joined the Ann St. Methodist Church in Beaufort, N.C., with his wife, Lyde, in 1950. In 1975, he became a member of the Main St. United Methodist Church in Tazewell, Va. He was active in his churches with Bible studies, serving as Sunday School teacher and choir member. Mr. Lewis was also a Shriner, 33rd degree Mason, a Paul Harris Fellow and member of the Tazewell Rotary Club, was past president of the Tazewell Chamber of Commerce where he was awarded Citizen of the Year. He was a charter member and past chairman of the Thompson Valley Community Emergency Services, Inc., which includes the Thompson Valley Fire Department, Rescue Squad, and the Thompson Valley Community Center. His career expanded many years and included various endeavors of which he worked very hard and enthusiastically to achieve success. He always carried a "can do" attitude and was an extraordinary fundraiser on many projects. He was a Corporal in the US Army serving in Europe during World War II. After the war, he began his career as a Chrysler Plymouth Dodge Dealer for Port City Motors in Morehead City, N.C., and then became Sales Manager for Dick Parker Ford in Havelock, N.C. During his years in North Carolina, he also served as President of East Carteret High School Booster Club and was instrumental in the construction of the athletic facilities. After moving to Tazewell, Va., he worked as Sales Manager of Ramey Chevrolet in Tazewell, Va. He also worked with the Tazewell County Industrial Development Corporation and actively participated in the development of the Cavitts Creek Dam. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Brown Bertram, and his wife of 55 years, Lyde Thompson Lewis. Survivors include three sons, Robert Shavender Lewis and John Courtney Lewis, both of the Thompson Valley community in Tazewell, Va., and William Thompson Lewis and wife, Charlotte Stanford Lewis, of Carrollton, Ga.; three grandchildren, Dr. Zachary Thompson Lewis and wife, Ashley Peery Lewis, Lindsay Lewis Jennings and husband, William Newton Jennings, and Chesley Lauren Lewis; three great grandchildren, Taylor Grace Lewis, William Newton Jennings, and George Hutchinson Jennings; and his compassionate caregivers Pat Atkinson, Cheryl Horn, Anna Marie Miller, Tazewell Community Home Health and Legacy Hospice. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sat., Jan. 24, 2009 at Main St. United Methodist Church in Tazewell, Va., with the Rev. Kathie Wilson-Parker officiating. Mary Lou Mabe, age 88 of Richlands, Va., went home to be with her heavenly father, Fri., Jan. 23, 2009 in a local Richlands, Va., hospital following a brief illness. When she reached the gates of heaven and presented her resume for the position of an angel, Saint Peter declared that she already had 88 years of experience. Mary was born in Hawkins County, Tenn., and she was the daughter of the late, Martin and Maggie Florence Pruitt Jeter, former Tazewell County natives. She had spent her life being a full time homemaker, dedicating herself to her family so she could lead and guide them as they grew. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend, she liked spending time sewing, crocheting, making crafts and when she could, visiting those who were sick and praying for them. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith, a life time resident of Tazewell County and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She brought love into many lives and she will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence W. "Bill Buck" Mabe; sons, Clarence Andrew Mabe, Edward Martin Mabe; one brother; three half sisters; two half brothers; and four grandchildren, Elaina Lee Baldwin, Curtis Baldwin, Jr., Elaina Mabe and Anthony Aaron Baldwin. Lynwood Floyd McGlothlin, age 77 of Richlands, Va., passed away Mon., Jan. 19, 2009, at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Tazewell County, Va., and was the son of the late Loranze and Laura Reedy McGlothlin. Lynwood was a graduate of the 1949 class of Richlands High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and was stationed in Korea. He was a retired Tipple Mechanic for Island Creek VP#3 and a member of the United Mine Workers Association. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist church and a lifelong resident of the area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara F. McGlothlin; a son, Tim McGlothlin; two brothers, Leonard and Harold McGlothlin; one sister, Inez Norman. Morris, Robert Edward

Robert Edward Morris, 68, of Roanoke, Va., passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009, after a long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Mroz and Edward Joseph Morris, of Fall River, Mass. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, Bob worked for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute for several years before becoming an Oceanographer for the United States Navy Department based in Washington, D.C. He operated Roy L. Webber Florist for the last 35 years. During that time, he served as Chairman and District Representative for the Virginia State FTD Unit, President of the Williamson Road Area Business Association, board member of the Better Business Bureau and was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gladys Webber Morris; daughters, Wendy Morris Harless, of Kernersville, N.C., Michelle Kathryn Morris, of Weehawken, N.J., and Deborah Morris Jones, of Arlington, Va.; grandson, Spenser Harless; and sonsin-law, Steve Harless and Brian Jones. Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and ardent Redskins fan. He will be sadly missed by his black labs, Thor and Freyja, and kitties, Sequin, Pumpkin and Napoleon. Joseph H. Munford SMITHFIELD - Joseph Holland Munford, 57, passed away Jan. 30, 2009. He was born in Newport News, the son of the late Inez Holland Munford and William Andrew Munford Sr. He was also predeceased by his brother, William Andrew Munford Jr. "Joe" was the owner and operator of Munford Well Company. He was a member of Great Spring Church of the Nazarene where he was a member of the church board and was the treasurer. He was also a life member of the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad where he served as past president and captain. In 1980, Joe was named Outstanding Man of the Year by the Smithfield Jaycees. Sallie Marie Melvin Murray died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, in Greer, S.C., after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. at the A. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria with committal services on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. She was a homemaker and married to the late Martin Elmer Murray. They raised four children and lived in the Alexandria area for 40 years. They were both active in their church and community. NELSON, Patrick Grey, 84, of Ruther Glen, passed away Friday, January 30, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Josephine Patton Nelson; and his wife, Mildred White Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Ida May Nelson; two daughters, Kathy Berkle and her husband, Paul, and Gail Blue and her husband, Patrick; stepson, William Gregory and his wife, Bitsy; stepdaughter, Diane Goldberg and her husband, Richard; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Irene King, Inez Kilgour and Lottie Doeppe. A bricklayer since the age of 17, he was employed by Mayo & Sharpe, was a partner in Hammond Masonry, and then was in business for himself for 10 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Goochland Baptist Church, Metropolitan Lodge #11 A.F. & A.M, ACCA Temple Shrine Legion of Honor, and the Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with a Masonic Service at 5 p.m. at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Nuzzo Sr., Hubert L.

Hubert L. Nuzzo Sr. NORFOLK - Hubert Lee Nuzzo Sr., 87, of Summers Drive, passed away Jan. 30, 2009, in his residence. Born Sept. 21, 1921, in Norfolk, he was the son of the late Giavannina Orlando and Pasquale Nuzzo. He will be remembered most for the love of his family. He attended John Marshall, Blair Junior High and graduated from Maury High School in 1940. He graduated in 1944 with a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech. He also completed studies at Rensselaer and the United States Naval Academy and graduated Reserve Midshipman School for engineering officers. He was commissioned as an ensign April 1944. Lee served his country in World War II aboard the LCS 70 in the Pacific Theater, Battle of the Philippines and Okinawa. He was stationed in Japan and China where he was group engineering officer of Flotilla 5. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War and assigned to the staff of Commander Amphibious Forces Little Creek. He continued to serve the Navy as a civilian as chief engineer of St. Julian's Creek and Naval Facilities Engineering Command, retiring in 1979. His memberships include past president Toast Masters Club of St. Julian Creek, Military Officers Association, National Society of Professional Engineers; board member, Finance Committee; past president of the Ted Landis Class First United Methodist Church; and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Lee is survived by his wife, Jessie Bland Nuzzo; daughter, Johanna Leslie Perakes of Portsmouth; two sons, Hubert Lee Nuzzo Jr. and wife Wendel of Norfolk and Richard Mark Nuzzo and wife Myra of Williamsburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Neal Nuzzo of Norfolk, Richard Evan Nuzzo and Alexis Ann Nuzzo, both of Williamsburg and Tucker Gardner Jankosky of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sisters, Irma Madeline Nolan and Olga Rose Caldwell; and his brother, Adrian Carlos Nuzzo. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Nuzzo Brown; granddaughter, Leslie Caroline Brown; two sisters, Edith Coletti and Gloria Naomi Jones; and a brother, Aubrey Dominic Nuzzo. Mary C. Oleynik VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary Catanese Oleynik, 86, passed away Jan. 30, 2009, in a local hospital. Mrs. Oleynik was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Virginia Beach since 1978. She was the wife of the late Charles Jacob Oleynik. She had studied fashion design at Pratt Institute, and later she became a real estate agent and had worked several years for Pyle Realty. She was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and can now rest with Momma, Papa, Tutti, Lillie and Gina, who all preceded her in death. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed. She referred to her loving nephews as "The Boys," as they were very close to her. She did volunteer work for the Salem Food Pantry and the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was an active member of the Pilot Club International serving on the Board of Trustees. Mr. Melvin Junior Proffitt, age 79, of Shortts Gap, Va., passed away Fri., Jan. 23, 2009 at his home. Born at Buchanan County, Va., he was the son of the late Henry Melvin Proffitt and Ocie Belle Davis Proffitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Proffitt and Brady Proffitt; one sister, Darlene Ball, and one granddaughter, Kimberly Diane Baldwin. Mr. Proffitt was a retired coal miner and he enjoyed working around the house and listening to blue grass music. QUICK, John James Jr., 75, of Richmond, Va., passed away January 30, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His father, John James Quick Sr. and his mother, Elizabeth Wiltshire Quick, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Judith D. Quick; his daughter, Deborah L. Trinite; grandson, Brayden E. Byrd, both of Midlothian, Va.; his son, William C. "Chris" Quick; daughter-in-law, Charlotte S. Quick; granddaughters, Savannah C. Quick and Ashley M. Quick, all of Richmond, Va.; and cousins, Willa Mae Bowman and Betty Jo Moore of Bumpass, Va.; as well as many other cousins. John was a graduate of John Marshall High School. He retired from Media General, Inc. in 1992 after 44 years of loyal service. Not one to be still in retirement, he moved on to a second career of 13 years as a Marshall Starter with The Country Club of Virginia, where he made many treasured and lasting friendships. John was an avid golfer, who worked with junior golfers at Oak Hill Golf Course, and collaborated to create their first Junior Golf Program. He loved music, and was a charismatic dancer whose dance card was always full. John's sharp wit and infectious humor engaged all those he met, and brightened any room he entered. Eldridge Walter Reynolds, 86, of Austinville went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2009, at the Wythe County Community Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Wythe County on December 14, 1922, a son of the late Ewell and Maude Coleman Reynolds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. He was a member of the Graham's Forge United Methodist and was a retired purchasing agent from Pulaski Community Hospital. Eldridge received the Purple Heart while serving with the Seabees attached to the 4th Division, United States Marines during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Annie Ayers Reynolds; two daughters and their husbands, Ruth Ann Leonard (Dick), of Asheville, N.C., and Sandra Wilhoit (Norman), of Wytheville; one son, E.W. Reynolds Jr., of Grahams Forge; two sisters Rachel Cline, of Wytheville, and Dorothy Reichenbach, of Pennsylvania. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Tammy Keith (Larry) E.W. Rimington, Diana Elizabeth

RIMINGTON, Diana Elizabeth, of Richmond, Va., passed away January 21, 2009 after a courageous battle with breast cancer which progressed into bone cancer. "Didi" as she was known to family and friends, was born in Miami, Fla., on October 13, 1951. She graduated from Palmetto High School and proudly worked for "Burdines, The Florida Store" for 30 rewarding years. In 1999, Diana left her home in Miami Shores and position as Corporate Security Administrator to move to her beloved Richmond, where she became an Instructional Aide for Henrico County Schools. She later enjoyed her part-time position as telephone receptionist for Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists. Richmond became a wonderful home to Diana and her children where she enjoyed the loyalty and love of a close group of dear friends. Diana was preceded in death by her mother and father, Diana and Dennis Murphy Jr. of Miami; as well as grandparents, Margaret and Finton Irwin of Miami Shores, Eileen and Dennis Murphy Sr. of Coral Gables, and Evelyn and Jim Epting of Miami. Diana is survived by her devoted children, who provided such great comfort and love, Colleen (William) Wray, Caulin Rimington and Savannah Rimington, all of Richmond. Didi's close-knit family includes sisters, Denise Bacallao, Dori Heilmann, Dede (Barry) David; and brother, Dennis Murphy III; stepmother, Marion Bundy; as well as several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. We will miss her positive outlook and adventurous sense of life. Diana was a vibrant and reassuring Mother, Sister, Relative and Dear Friend to all who had the pleasure to know this inspirational, determined lady.


 


 

Robertson Jr., Emmett

Emmett Wesley Robertson Jr., 66, of Boyd Tavern died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at his home. A graveside service with full military honors was held Monday, Jan. 26, at Holly Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Buddy Woodson officiating. He was born Feb. 3, 1942, in Bland County. He was a graduate of Bland County High School Class of 1959. He then entered the U.S. Army in 1960 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1966. After discharge from the Army, he drove for Trailways for 25 years. He worked for Tiger Fuel Co. until he retired. He then started his own business, Robertson's Small Engine Repair, which he operated from his home. Over the years and many miles traveled, many friends were made and have been left behind to remember him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elnora Miller Robertson; a son, Charles Wesley Robertson; a stepdaughter, Nancy Lee Johnson; and a brother-in-law, Clarence R. Thurman Jr. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Anna Lee Robertson; his father, Emmett Wesley Robertson Sr.; stepdaughter, Tammy Johnson of Scottsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James "Jimmy" D. and Pearl Robertson, Robert E. and Sue Robertson, all of Bland; two sisters, Ruth Robertson of Bluefield and Becky Via of Bland; a stepgrandchild; three nieces, one nephew, two great-nieces and two great-nephews, all of Bland; special little neighbor, Ashley Brooke Carson of Troy; and will be sadly missed by his little four-legged friend, Brownie. ROBINSON, Jeanne Ash, died peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2009. She was predeceased by her husbands, J. William Ash, and E. F."Robbie" Robinson. She is survived by her three devoted children, William E. Ash and his wife, Debbie, Steven E. Ash and his wife, Renn, and Suzanne C. Ash; her brother, John B. Eurell Jr.; four grandchildren, Steven E. Ash Jr., Ryan H. Ash, William E. Ash Jr., and Megan B. Ash. She was born in Baltimore and raised in Philadelphia, graduated from Goucher College, and became a southerner in 1950 when she moved to Charlottesville and then to Richmond in 1952. She was a beloved mother, a true example of strength and devotion, who raised her three children after the sudden death of her first husband in 1972. She was very active at Collegiate School, a devoted fan at all of her children's games, and all of her children's friends were always welcome in her home. She married Robbie in 1989 and he shared her love of travel and they enjoyed many trips together. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren at family gatherings and at the river, as well as lunch with her special friends. She was a special person who had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and she will be truly missed by all who knew her. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bliley's - Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Avenue. Burial will be private. Mr. Ernest B. (Pedro) Sargent, age 89, of Catawba, Va., formerly of Cedar Bluff, Va., passed away Thurs., Jan. 22, 2009, in a Charlottesville, Va., hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Bandy, Va., and was the son of the late William Baylor and Grace Vernon Sargent. He had made his home in the Cedar Bluff, Va., area all of his life prior to moving to Catawba, Va., four years ago. He was a former self employed Produce Salesman and was a member of the Mt. Herman United Methodist Church in Bandy, Va. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran and was a member of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 of Richlands, Va. He was in the Fourth Armored Division and served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Beulah Sparks, and three brothers, Myrl, Lloyd, and Norais Sargent. Survivors are: his wife: Lola Shinault Sargent; one daughter: Judy Gauldin and husband, Wayne, of Catawba, Va.; two sisters: Eloise Sargent of Bandy, Va., Essie Fay Vrooman of Marion, Ohio; two grandchildren: Ernest Wade Gauldin and wife, April, and Christina Gauldin; one great grandchild: Brennan Gauldin. She was a resident of Coalwood, W.Va., for many years and was active in the community, church, PTA, Women's Club and all worthy causes. She also operated Sharitz's Grocery on West Lee Highway in Wytheville for several years and was an active member of the Petunia Christian Church and choir. She was a phenomenal lady. Diagnosed with diabetes at age 26, she never allowed it to limit her many activities in her community and church or the extraordinary support and nourishment of her family and friends. Survivors include her only child, Kenneth Neale Sharitz, and his wife, Donise, and their daughters, Sheila Ann Johnson and Amanda Clyde Bentley and their families ; three sisters, Bonnie Fay Flinchium of Wytheville, Virginia Dare Callahan of Dublin, and Willie Lou Martin of Lynchburg; seven great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. SHEPHERD, Mae Reynolds, 90 formerly of Richmond passed away January 30, 2009 in Roanoke, Va., where she was a resident of Our Lady of the Valley. She was born June 19, 1918 in Buckingham County. She was the daughter of the late Lelia Morris Reynolds and William H. Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her four sisters and two brothers, Vernell R. Brown, Dorothy D. Reynolds, Rebecca R. Shepard, Lelia R. Barnes, William W. Reynolds and Woodrow H. Reynolds; as well as her grandson, Derek M. Edwards. Mrs. Shepherd graduated from the Lynchburg Training School for Nurses in 1938 at age 20 and had a long career as a registered nurse at Grace, Retreat and Stuart Circle Hospitals. She ultimately retired from Phillip Morris, Inc., where she was an industrial nurse. She is survived by one son, John R. Edwards, M.D. and his wife, Mary Ann; and granddaughter, Teresa Ann Edwards, all of Roanoke. Mrs. Shepherd leaves behind many nieces and nephews including, Wesley Raper of Richmond, who made his home with her from the age four. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 2, 2009, 12 noon at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, Va. with interment to follow in Westview Cemetery. Regina Lucy Snyder (Jean) Starkey, 89, left us to begin her new life in heaven on January 30, 2009. She was born May 15, 1919 in Wheeling, West Virginia and resided there until June 2003, at which time she moved to Franklin County, Virginia. She was a selfless wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John Edmund Starkey, Sr., her parents Walter Yagacevsky Snyder and Julia Snyder, brothers, Henry Snyder and Leonard Snyder, nephew Kenneth Snyder, granddaughter Vicki Lynn Blazer, and daughter-in-law Mary Ann Starkey. Joan was born April 10, 1943, in Norfolk, the youngest of two daughters to Joseph Roman Lee and Elouise Taylor. She was a product of the Norfolk school system, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School and Norfolk State University. She taught school in Chesapeake, Norfolk and Virginia Beach and Lawton, Okla. She married Willie Grey Staton on April 10, 1967 in Norfolk. She traveled with her husband as his military career dictated with postings at Fort Bragg, N.C., Fort Polk, La., Gelnhausen and Augsburg, Germany, and Fort Sill, Okla., on several occasions. From this union with Willie were born three children: Brian Christopher, Krista Noel and Adrienne Michelle and ultimately four grandchildren: Kallen Andrew, Taryn Bree, Devin Grey and Lane Alexander. She continued her career as a librarian and medical training technician in Augsburg, Germany, and as a property book technician in the property book section of the Directorate of Logistics at Fort Sill until her retirement. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the missionary circle and the salt ministry. Survivors include her husband, Willie, and daughter, Adrienne of the home; son, Brian and wife Laurie; grandsons, Devin and Lane, all of Katy, Texas; daughter, Krista Clavon and grandchildren Kallen and Taryn of Lawton; her mother, Elouise and sister, Joyce Vann, both of Norfolk; three sisters-in-law: June Brunham and Della Munden of Norfolk and Othelia Perry of Elizabeth City, N.C.; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Feb 1, 2009 Thomas "Tom" Roach Garrison Jr., 85, of Burlington, N.C., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009. He was a native of Mecklenburg County, the son of the late Thomas Roach Garrison and Ottilie Brandes Garrison. Garrison was a graduate of Mars Hill Junior College and North Carolina State University. He was a mechanical engineer with DuPont for more than 35 years in Martinsville and a member of The First Baptist Church of Burlington. He served as a volunteer with CONTACT Crisis Helpline of Martinsville for more than 20 years, volunteered with the Boy Scouts in Martinsville for many years, and went on overseas mission trips with his church. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ann Parker Garrison; two daughters, Betty Garrison of Burlington and Fran Garrison Murphy of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, Banks Garrison of Abingdon and Paul Garrison of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Garrison Lawing of Charlotte, N.C.; three nieces; and two nephews. VANSANT, Jay Franklin, 68, went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2009. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Owen; and her husband, Eugene; his father, Henry Vansant Sr.; and his wife, Katherine; brothers, Henry Jr. and William; sister, Kathy; and great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Faith Gentry. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Barbara; sister, Sue Juanarena (Doug); brother, Stuart; son, Sam Wilson (Susan); daughter, Linnie Scruggs (Mike); stepchildren, Debra Wilson and Joe Wilson; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, many cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Kathryn R. Wanderer NORFOLK - Kathryn R. Wanderer, 91, of the 8000 block of Lynnbrook Drive, passed away Jan. 30, 2009, in her home. Kathryn was the widow of Joseph Wanderer and retired from the City of Norfolk as Deputy Clerk of Court. She was a member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn L. Mayhood of Norfolk; a son, Charles David Looney of California; four grandchildren, Stephen J. Galovics III, Jeffrey T. Galovics, Trevor S. Galovics and LeAnne Looney; and great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lafayette Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Max Culler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. WILKERSON, Virginia "Jennie," 98, of Richmond, Va., died January 26, 2009 at Henrico Doctors' Hospital (Parham). She was born June 3, 1910, in Richmond, Va., the eldest and only daughter of five siblings born to Willie and Pinkie Lipscomb. She attended the public schools in Richmond. Virginia married the late Willard Wilkerson in Richmond, Va., relocating shortly thereafter to Harlem, New York City, where together they raised four children, Eddie Wilkerson, Arlene Wilkerson (deceased), Evelyn Carter (deceased) and Doris Brooks. Virginia's joy over the years centered around her family. She eventually returned home to Richmond, Va., where she lived her twilight years. Virginia leaves to cherish her memory her son, Eddie Wilkerson; daughter, Doris Brooks; daughter-in-law, Rose Wilkerson; two sons-in-law, Edward Brooks and John Carter; eight grandchildren including the most special, Kim Coley; a host of great and great-great-grandchildren, and a large extended family of sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. We celebrate the life of Virginia "Jennie" Wilkerson. She will always have a special place in our hearts.
