She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Spencer Ball; two daughters, Angela Hynson and her husband, Kyle, and Travis Ann Ball; three grandchildren, Danielle Ann (15) and Kyle Levin Hynson (13), and Aiden Spencer Ball (4); and several lifelong friends. Winifred G. Bento VIRGINIA BEACH - Winifred G. Bento, 85, went to be the Lord Nov. 9, 2008. She was born in Fall River, Mass., Aug. 10, 1923, and was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bento. She was a member of the Amphibious Base Little Creek Chapel for many years. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert Luiz; a brother, James Goncalo; two sisters, Agnes Soares and Henrietta Raposa; three stepsons, Steve, James and John; two stepdaughters, Dorothy and Natalie. Nov 14, 2008 Bessie L. Lyle, 81, of 61 Scott Bypass, Bassett, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in West Virginia on Dec. 24, 1926, to William T. Keys and Goldie Scott Keys. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lyle; two sisters, Coretta Keys Oliver and Della Keys Wright; and a brother, Calvin C. Keys. She worked for a number of years at a private club in Akron, Ohio, and retired from the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., where she worked for many years. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two sons, Roy Manns and Harvey Manns Jr., both of Akron; one brother, Everett Keys of Bassett; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hairston Funeral Home with the Rev. Thurman O. Echols Jr. presiding. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour before the service Sunday.

She was a member of Christ & Grace Episcopal Church and a retired assistant manager of the Petersburg Country Club. She is survived by her husband, Milton Earnest Blount; two sons, Norbert S. Ewick and wife, Kelli, and Roger C. Ewick; three grandsons, Jason K. Ewick, Weston K. Ewick and Steven T. Ewick; sister, Inge Niedermeir of Pirmasens, Germany; and a very close friend, Margaret Dacey. Gary Lee Boyd PORTSMOUTH - Gary Lee "Uncle Ben" Boyd, 51, of the 600 block of Broad Street, entered into eternal rest Nov. 10, 2006. Gary was born Jan. 24, 1957, in Portsmouth to the late William and Janie Boyd. He grew up in Portsmouth and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School where he was a member of the track team. He worked as a manager at Food Lion for several years until his health declined. Uncle Ben was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle who always knew how to make you laugh. He left to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 16 years, Glenda Boyd; his children, Lanette Butler (Roger) of Virginia, Gabrielle Small and Shawnrell Small, both of North Carolina, Shante' Jones, Dominique Britt and Gary Jr., all of Virginia; three sisters, Beverly Harris (Matthew), Joyce A. Boyd, both of Virginia and Darlene Boyd of New York; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Ricky Boyd and sister, Rita M. Boyd. A celebration of his life will be conducted in Mount Nebo RZUA Church Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Danny L. Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Elizabeth Natalie DeHart Carter, 90, a resident of Brandon Oaks in Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walker Randolph Carter Jr. They were married for 53 years. She was the daughter of the late Emily Rose and Gabriel Gates DeHart Sr., and during her lifetime was a resident of Salem and Roanoke, Va. She was also predeceased by four brothers Gabriel Gates (G.G.) DeHart Jr., Lloyd Elmore DeHart, George Rae (Red) DeHart, and Eugene Overacre DeHart., She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Emilee and Gordon (Ted) Garman, of Roanoke, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dan Eitner, of Smith Mountain Lake; and daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Dudley Woody, of Roanoke. She was a sweet and loving "Mimi" to her granddaughters, Emilee (Lee) Garman, Natalie (Cathie) Garman Shellnut and husband, Ricky, Lauren Woody Pickens and husband, Jim, of Gainsville Ga., and Nancy and Michelle Woody, of Roanoke, Va.; a stepgrandson, Steven Eitner, of Rocky Mount; and stepgranddaughter, Brianne Eitner, of Wake, N.C. She is also survived by three greatgrandchildren, Mikah Secrist, Julian and Isabella Shellnut, of Roanoke, Va. Also surviving are beloved and dear nieces and nephews, Betty Lloyd Stanley and husband, Levon, of Melbourne, Fla., Susan O'Hara and husband, Pat, of New York, Gates DeHart Ill and Thomas DeHart, of Roanoke, Va., and George Rae DeHart Jr., of New York., She and her husband, Walker, were the first residents to move into Brandon Oaks 15 years ago. She loved her life there, enjoyed being an active resident serving on numerous committees, and always looked forward to meeting new residents with her warm and welcoming personality. She was a very active and long time member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church which she dearly loved. Many years ago she and her husband served on the Search Committee to establish what is now Alta Mons Methodist Camp. She was a member and past president of the Women's Club of Roanoke, past member of Thursday Morning Music Club, and enjoyed attending the Roanoke Symphony performances. She attended Roanoke College, and was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College and Radford College. She was an early childhood educator, starting kindergartens in several Methodist churches in Roanoke. She was a master teacher in the Roanoke City School pilot kindergarten program establishing public school kindergartens. Being the loving mother and accomplished teacher earned her the honor of being named Mother of the Year in Education in 1979., 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at South Roanoke United Methodist Church in Roanoke, Va., with the Reverend Bill Davidson officiating. Leslie Randall Draper, 76, of Hopewell died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mr. Draper was born in Martinsville, Va. and had been a long time resident of Hopewell. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired at Fort Lee as a M/Sgt with 23 years of service. Following his tenure in the military, he was employed with Firestone Corporation and Virginia Power Company. Mr. Draper was the son of the late Frank L. Draper Sr. and Gladys Parcell Draper. He is survived by his wife, Norma Draper of Hopewell; three sons, Leslie D. Draper and his wife, Debbie; Charles F. Draper and his wife, Robin, all of Neptune City, N.J.; Mark Lee and his wife, Brandy of Smithfield, N.C.; four daughters, Rosemarie Giorella and her husband, Joseph of Winder, Ga., Bonnie Sue Stafford and her husband, Michael of Bradley Beach, N.J., Susan Martin of Hopewell, Va.. and her husband, Michael of Winston Salem, N.C., and Sharon Ledford and her special friend, Ernie Brown of Walnut Cove, N.C.; 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, David G. Patrocinio Mendoza Farnell, M.D., of Petersburg, Va., died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at Inova Fairfax Hopital in Northern, Va. Dr. Farnell was born on Nov. 14, 1915 in Magalang, Pampanga, Philippine Islands. She was preceded in death by her former husband of 25 years. Lt. Col. (Ret) Eric C. Farnell; both of her parents, Jose Mendoza and Fidela Ordonez Mendoza; her brothers, Libertado, Teodosio, Heraclio, and Nicias Mendoza; her sisters, Emerenciana M. Valencia, Araceli M. Moran, Fidela M. Henson, and son-in-law, Hobert Lawson. She graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1940. Throughout the years, she kept up with classmates from her graduating class, even attending her 60th class reunion in Manila in 2000. She practiced medicine in the Philippines during some of the most difficult years for the Filipinos, World War II. It was shortly after the War ended she met U.S. Army Capt. Eric Farnell, and they were married on June 2, 1945. Dr. Farnell became an Army wife and mother to their five daughters. She left the Philippines in early 1949, and was not able to return again for a visit until 1971, when about 40 extended family members met her at the airport for a joyous reunion. Military life took the family to Italy, N.Y., and Washington, D.C., but mostly they lived in and around the Fort Lee, Va. area. Dr. Farnell loved the United States and became a naturalized citizen in 1959. She became an avid seamstress and loved to sew for her family. She also enjoyed playing Mah Jong, Canasta, and Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, and later took up crocheting afghans for family and friends. When she was able, Dr. Farnell loved to read, take long walks, and travel to other countries with her daughters or friends. She returned to work as a medical doctor in 1968 at Central State Hospital in Petersburg, Va., where she continued to work until her retirement in 1985. Dr. Farnell loved the Lord, was a devout Roman Catholic and attended Mass at Fort Lee military chapels for over 50 years. She prayed the rosary anytime she had spare moments, whether riding in a car or walking in her neighborhood. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Anne and Fred Brewer of San Ramon, Calif.; Katherine Lawson of Springfield, Va.; Yvonne Farnell and Bob Smedley of Asheville, N.C.; Nancy and Jim Maloy of Charlottesville, Va.; and Margery and Kenny Young of Petersburg, Va.; her grandchildren, Lauren and Eric Brewer; Danielle, Eric and Jonathan Lawson; Daniel and Matthew Smedley; Jim Maloy and his wife, Stephanie; Christopher Young; great grandchildren, Evan and Lily Maloy; Andrew, Tiffany, and Eric Lawson and Jonathan Corpuz; brothers, Rene Mendoza of Chino, Calif. and Joel Mendoza of Artesia, Calif.; and step-mother, Angeles Mendoza; a large and loving extended family of sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews in the Philippines and California. Dr. Farnell spent the last several years in the loving care of her daughter Katie in Springfield, Va. The family wishes to thank the staff of Inova Fairfax Hospital for their care of Dr. Farnell, who had several recent hospital stays during the past year, and to the staff of Leewood Health Care Center where Dr. Farnell has spent the past three months in rehabilitation and was preparing to return home later this week. FELLOWS, Isabel Love Chapman, 89, passed away November 10, 2008 in Richmond, Va. Isabel was born July 8, 1919 in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. Isabel was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She and her husband, Ed Fellows, were recently from Huntington, N.Y., where they lived for 56 years (1943-1999). They were members of the Lloyd Harbor Yacht Club and active in the Harbor Boating Club of Huntington, N.Y. Isabel retired from the Huntington School District in 1977, where she worked for 15 years. She was an active member of the Methodist Church of Huntington. Isabel served her community in many ways, and was especially active in the Meals On Wheels organization in Huntington. Isabel was predeceased by her parents, John and Isabel Chapman; and brother, John Chapman. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ed; a daughter, Nancy and her husband, John; sons, Donald and wife, Marty, and Robert and wife, Pat. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Ben Colona and Emily Colona; stepgrandchildren, Vince Jarecki and his wife, Caitlyn, Kristin Jarecki, Alyssa Jarecki, Susie Jones and husband, Al, Debbie Arco and husband, Jeff, and Vicki Denslow and husband, Ted; and several great-grandchildren; as well as a niece, Kathleen Chapman Bernard; and nephew, John Chapman and their families. Mr. Joseph Harper Jr., 66, former sheriff of Petersburg, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at Southside Regional Medical Center. Mr. Harper was the first African-American to be appointed as sheriff of Petersburg City. Sheriff Harper will be greatly missed by the City of Petersburg and many, many friends and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Harper and Moses Harper. Mr. Harper was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg, for over 45 years. Joseph Harper was born July 10, 1942, to the late Joseph and Emmaline Harper. He attended Peabody High School, the University of Richmond and Virginia State University. Mr. Harper served as bailiff in the Richmond City Courts, Special Police with the Petersburg Police Department, Statewide Detective Agency, Virginia State Penitentiary, Pinkerton's Detective Agency, and in 1985, was elected sheriff of the City of Petersburg. He was re-elected in 1989 and 1993; he later retired as sheriff after 16 years of dedicated service. Mr. Harper's associations include the Virginia State Sheriff's Association since 1976, Board of Directors, Richard Bland Training Academy, Board of Directors, YMCA of Petersburg, past vice president, Petersburg Rotary Club, past member Budget Committee, United Way of Petersburg, and Fraternal Order of Police, Petersburg. Along with his many accomplishments, Sheriff Harper has given lectures to many churches throughout the City of Petersburg, to Petersburg High School, Virginia State University Political Science Club, Virginia State University Criminal Justice Interns, America Business Women Association, 12th Masonic District Lodge Bingo Organization and ALPHA Omega Zeta Chapter. One of Joseph Harper's ambitions was theater and movies. He has played roles in the movies "Lincoln," "Tad," "Kennedy," "The Vernon Johns Story" and "The Day of the Jackel." He also had two local experiences with Playmakers, LTD of Petersburg, which were singing roles in Amen Corner and Resolutions. He was a member of the singing group The Christian Modernaires. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife of 47 years, Paige M. She loved sewing, making cakes, making people laugh and inspiring other cancer survivors. Elizabeth was a former member of the Tri-City CB Club LTD. She was a devoted member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Petersburg, where she has served on the Pastor's Aide Ministry and the Mass Choir. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her two brothers, Luke T. Baugh and Robert L. Baugh. She is survived by her daughter; Thembi L. Bonner; two sons, Mike Baugh and Rahsan Bonner, all of Petersburg; a grandson, Asante Alleyne; her mother, Marie H. McDONALD, Marian Smith, a retired psychotherapist, died on November 11, 2008 at Anne Arundel Medical Center from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Marian worked in the mental health field in the Richmond, Va. area for more than 25 years, first with the Commonwealth of Virginia and then in private practice. She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church. Marian was a key contributor in starting the Richmond Forum which became so successful that it outgrew the church capacity and continues to be an outstanding program in the Richmond area. Marian moved to Ginger Cove in Annapolis, Md. in February 2006 where she is well known for her considerable skills at the bridge table and her volunteer work in the health center. She was an avid reader, followed politics with a passion, and loved spending time with family and friends, discussing the important things about life. She is survived by her daughters, Marsha Morton and Margaret Jackson; granddaughter, Lindsey Ellerson; son-in-law, Edward Jackson; sister, Margaret Seagle; and nieces, Leigh Seagle and Sara Agnello. ROBERTS, Betty Marie, whose long life came to an end on November 12, 2008, was born on March 3, 1909 to Willie and Betty Coleman in Clover, Va. She was one of 12 children and is survived by one sister, Marion Goodall. Betty was married to Lawrence Roberts, and from this union eight children were born. Her beloved husband, Lawrence, and two of their children, Curtis and Lawrence Jr., preceded her in death; and three grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her passing six children, Bernice Lindsey (William), Albert Roberts (Joyce), Madelyn Mitchell (Lester), Olivia Hart (Welford), Lorenzo Roberts (Linda), all of Richmond, Va., and Donald Roberts (Lois) of Louisa, Va. There are 39 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. In 1961 she dedicated her life to Jehovah God and became one of his Witnesses. She was a faithful member of the Ginter Park Congregation.The family wishes to express gratitude to Brenda Washington and the second floor hospice unit at St. Mary's Hospital for such loving care extended to our mother. Nov 14, 2008 Shirley Turner Moore, 67, of Stuart, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at her home. She was born in Patrick County on July 5, 1941, to Stephens Homer Turner and Lillian Mize Turner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband, Charles Coalson; three brothers, Oran Akers "Bob" Turner, Walter Turner and Cecil "Mop" Turner; two half brothers, Gene Turner and Irvin Turner; and a half sister, Catherine "Cassie" Seagraves. She was a certified nurses' assistant and had been a caregiver for more than 80 people in her home over 20 years. She was a member of Elamsville Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Howard Leon Moore of the home; three daughters, Pamela Young of Ararat, Sandra Spangler of Stuart and Kim Smart of Spring Hill, Fla.; two sons, Michael Smart of Kernersville, N.C., and Bobby Foster of Patrick Springs; six grandchildren; two brothers, Curtis Turner and Clyde Turner, both of Stuart; and two sisters, Marie Foster of Martinsville and Nancy Shively of Ferrum. Kathleen Ann Sizemore, 62, of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Monday, November 10, 2008. Kathy's courageous battle with cancer never stopped her from putting her family and friends first. She was a volunteer EMT for Windsor Rescue Squad and Mount Pleasant First Aid Crew. Kathy volunteered at the VA Medical Center in Salem and was a member of Our Lady Of Nazareth Catholic Church, where she served on the fellowship committee. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Mary Margaret Henisse; and also by a brother, Patrick Henisse. She is survived by her husband, Bill Sizemore; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Sizemore and wife, Becky, and David Sizemore and wife, Ashley; six grandchildren, Meghan, Brad, Tyler, Julie, Belle, and Austin; and many other loving relatives and friends also survive. Albert G. Thompson Jr. CHESAPEAKE - Albert Glenn "Al" Thompson Jr., 68, died Nov. 13, 2008. Mr. Thompson was born in Charlotte, N.C., the son of the late Albert G. Thompson and Ruth Barnes Thompson and was raised in Forest City, N.C., where he was a graduate of Cool Springs High School. As a youth, he was active in the First United Methodist Church and was an Eagle Scout. He also received the God and Country Award. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from North Carolina State University in Raleigh and a Master of Science in mathematics from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He was a professor of mathematics at Tidewater Community College, Norfolk Campus, and a former division chairman. He served at the college for 38 years. Al was active in his church and his community. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Portsmouth, where he had taught the Voyagers and Seekers Adult Sunday School Class and was a former president of the United Methodist Men. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Portsmouth, served as its president for the year 1999-2000, had been the club secretary since 2001, and achieved 12 years perfect attendance prior to his recent illness. In 1993, he was named a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. He was given the Distinguished Service Award by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce in 2002 and was recognized by the United Way for his leadership in the 2003 campaign. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Gail Bailey Thompson; two sons, Albert Ray "Bert" Thompson and wife Marsha of Chesapeake and Brett Bailey Thompson and wife Tiffany of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren, Brooke, Bethany, Madison, Ava, Alivia, Briana and Brock Albert Thompson. Also surviving is a brother, the Rev. Dr. George E. Thompson and wife Patricia of Charlotte, N.C. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Centenary United Methodist Church, Portsmouth. Nelson Van Essendelft WASHINGTON - Nelson David Van Essendelft, 64, of 305 S. Wedgewood Drive, died Nov. 12, 2008, in his home. Mr. Van Essendelft was born in Suffolk County, New York, and was the son of Alice Luyendyk Van Essendelft of Belhaven and the late Cornelius Adrian Van Essendelft. Retired after 25 years as a chief engineer with the Ferry Division of NCDOT, he had also worked as a commercial fisherman and tugboat engineer. A member of Covenant United Reformed Church and Gideons International, he was a past member of both the Christian Motorcycle Association and the Christian Coalition and had served in the New York National Guard from 1966 through 1971. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Jessica Kuiken Van Essendelft; three sons, Seth D. Van Essendelft and wife Barbra of Weston, Fla., Stephen J. Van Essendelft and wife Kimberly of Virginia Beach and David J. Van Essendelft and wife Holly of Gatesville, N.C.; a sister, Sue Slager of Pinetown, N.C.; a brother, Bernard Van Essendelft of Pantego, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Hannah, Abigail, Caroline, Eliza, Phillip, Jessica and Josie Van Essendelft. Ms. Matleen "Skeeter" Walker, of Petersburg, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. She was born on March 17, 1918 in Dinwiddie County, Va. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Walker and Lelia Malone Walker. She accepted Christ at an early age at Olive Branch Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, Va. When she moved to Petersburg, she joined Mount Olivet Baptist Church. She attended school in Dinwiddie and college at Virginia State. Her early career choice was that of cosmetology. Later she worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in management, where she retired after 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Frances Price and her four brothers, Samuel Walker, Clarence Walker, John Walker, and Altro Lee Walker. She is survived by her devoted sister, Mrs. Maude Sanders, and sister-in-law, Mrs. Gloria Walker, both of Petersburg, Va. WARD, Steven Ronald, of Roanoke, Va., departed this life on November 7, 2008. A native of Richmond, Va., Steve was born on April 11, 1948 and was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Francis Ward. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gail Hasselmann Ward; in-laws, John and Verna Hasselmann of Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Jerry Eyster of Southport, Conn.; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Judy Ward of Chandler, Ariz.; and half-brother, William L. Ward of Augusta, Ga. In addition, Steve leaves behind many other sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. After serving six years in the Air Force Reserve, Steve worked most of his life in the automotive industry. He loved NASCAR, boating on Smith Mountain Lake and throwing darts at Perkys. His greatest gifts were his quick wit, keen sense of humor and his lifelong love of animals, especially cats. Gail and the family would like to offer special appreciation to those who cared for Steve during the final stages of his illness, especially the staff of 12 West-Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Raleigh Court Healthcare, and his sitter, Melinda Henegar. Thank you for giving him the dignity the disease sought to destroy. To celebrate Steve's life, a memorial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in the Chapel of Light on November 28 at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or an animal welfare organization of your choice. WEST, Elizabeth L., 84, of Richmond, formerly of Culpeper, Va., left her earthly home, family, and friends to join her husband of 43 years, Paul, in their eternal home with the Lord on November 12, 2008. She was the beloved mother of two sons, William J. West and James L. West and his wife, Veronica; grandmother of Todd West and his wife, Jackie, Terri Retzke and her husband, Dave, Stacie Doyle and her husband, Buddy, Cherith West and Jordan Bach and her husband, Matt. She was the great-grandmother of Austin West, Marleigh West, Cameron Leonard and Matthew Bach II. She was the sister of Frances Davis and her husband, Chester; and also is survived by a beloved friend, Joan Groome; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved great-grandson, Jacob Leonard. "Sister" was born in Mitchells, Va. on January 1, 1924. In high school, she played on the girl's softball team and fell in love with a "scrappy" Golden Gloves boxer, Paul, whom she married in 1942. Whether she was known as Sister, Elizabeth, Mom, Grandma, Aunt Liz, or Mrs. West, she was loved by all and her caring love of all will be missed.The family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Va. He was a retired contractor. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Mary B. Coleman of Martinsville; three daughters, Rita Lewis of Archdale, N.C., Cheryl Coleman of Holden Beach, N.C., and Marsha Padgett of Martinsville; a son, John Coleman of High Point, N.C.; four sisters, Lucille Haynes of Ocala, Fla., Eloise Dodson of Wakeman, Ohio, Maggie Gauldin of Hickory, N.C., and Della Kay Vanover of Ridgeway; three brothers, Willard Coleman of Charleston, W.Va., Eugene Coleman of Mooresville, N.C., and Dale Coleman of Ridgeway; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was a lifelong farmer and dealt in real estate and cattle trading. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Wilmot, Kathleen

Kathleen Wilmot NORFOLK - Kathleen Wilmot, a wonderful Christian woman, loving and selfless mother, wife, daughter, aunt, sister and friend, was called home from a world that is far better having known her. She lived as she spoke, loving, caring and lifting all of us to new heights. Her joyous laughter helped us remember the importance of our relationships. Hers was an indomitable spirit that made us all better people. An avid cook, she gave new meaning to the phrase, "Can't boil water!" A teacher, counselor, artist, water-skier and Irish-American to a fault, she is and forever will be sorely missed. We all loved her, but she loved us more. True to form, Kathleen was also an organ donor. Kathleen was born in Santa Monica, Calif., and grew up in Long Island, N.Y. She worked for the airline industry for many years and was a career coach counselor for TCC where she altered the landscape of the youth of our community. She was an adventurer and a traveler. She moved to Norfolk 25 years ago, married Scott and was blessed with their pride and joy, Monica. She is celebrated by her husband, Scott; loving daughter, Monica; beloved labrador, Captain; her loving parents, George and Mary Hamilton; her sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Bob Pannenbacker of Virginia Beach and their daughters Kristin, Meghan and Lauren Lamoureux and her son John Parker; her brother and sister-in-law, John "Jay" and Nita Foley and their children Jack, Alex, Samantha and Christopher, all of Tulsa, Okla.; and also by brother-in-law, Garry and his wife Elaine; sister-in-law, Wendy and her husband Andy; her stepbrothers, George, Fred, Neal and Christopher Hamilton.
