industry that was culminated by his becoming president of Doughtie's Foods Inc. in Portsmouth. He was a natural leader, and never let a company's internal hierarchy or an employee's pay grade keep him from treating everyone who worked for him with respect and fairness. Tom was certainly no stranger to fun. An avid bowler, devoted Cubs fan, brilliant chef and game show fanatic, he also enjoyed donning his captain's hat and navigating his boat up the banks of the Elizabeth. His Thursday nights were reserved for his sons and grandsons where you could find them sharing a few drinks, listening to his stories of times past, and laughing at the bounty of jokes he somehow always remembered punchlines, too. Tom Beeler passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, after falling asleep while surrounded by his beloved family and the love of his life. Dorcas Cale NORFOLK - Dorcas Cale, 86, of the 400 block of Beck St., passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at a local hospital. Born in Davie County, North Carolina, to the late Robert and Lettie Richardson, Dorcas battled her entire life with lupus which went into remission five years ago. Recently, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Cale Jr.; a sister, Ann Schiller; two brothers, William Richardson and Bobby Glen Richardson; several nieces and nephews.
