BAKER - Ann G. 11/28/40 - 3/20/08 On your 69th birthday, your memory inspires all who ever knew you. St. David's feels your presence in everything we do. I know you're watching my "journey" and smiling. I see that little foot tapping as I sing your favorite song and knowing you're in a choir of angels keeps me "standing on a rocking" along. And as you celebrate your second Christmas in Heaven, give Boo a hug for me, welcome Ken and continue to watch over Father Phil. Thanks for your part in sending me angels down here. Not coincidence, it's the ones I've lost whispering in God's ear. Friend, J.C., Sheba and Ms. Puff |

In Loving Memory of William W. BLAKELY Daddy, today is your birthday, and we never stop missing you. Your workshop was never so empty, an emptiness only felt by losing a father., When I asked once why you didn't always go to church, you said "I pray better in my workshop". Now, when I don't feel close to God, I go to the cemetery., But, in fact, you are still here, to see everything we do. You were always there, through the good and the bad., When one got sick and had to learn to walk again, you taught her to swim to gain strength to bear weight. No task was ever too big or too small, from double-decker garages, to just taking care of grandchildren., Even when your heart was weak, you would get up in the middle of the night to help those in trouble. you always felt it was the right thing to do, that one should do everything to keep a marriage, and family, together., When one struggled with school and asked if it was worth the effort, you told about the time you left home to find your way. On the porch that night you talked of being lonesome, just like the Hank Williams song., On the night before the second bypass surgery, I asked if you were afraid. You said "No matter what happens, I've done all I can to make sure your mom never has to leave her home"., And, of course, you did., With love and respect forever,, Pam, Make a memorial contribution |

Jan Duistermars will be remembered for her room-filling laugh, her deep faith and more than anything else, her lifelong love and dedication to her family. Surrounded by loved ones on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2009, she passed from this life with the same grace and dignity with which she had always faced it. She now rests in her Savior's embrace., Born in April 24, 1940, Jan grew up in South Dakota mining country before moving to Phoenix in 1960 with her husband and two young children., More than three decades of Arizona sunshine were not enough to overcome her love of South Dakota. Jan moved back there in the mid 1990's before harsh winters convinced her to move to her oldest daughter's new hometown of Charlottesville., Jan's membership at First Baptist Church allowed her to renew her love of singing in the church choir. Members of the congregation may remember her contribution to the choirs silhouette, where her tenor voice placed her among the men with her 4 foot, 11 inch frame, a sapling among redwoods., On her final day, Jan was visited by First Baptist's longtime pastor, Joel Jenkins, who told fond stories of how Jan had always been a personal encouragement to him. No one was surprised., Though her life's focus was always on the home front, her work outside the home reflected Jan's patience and compassion. Most recently, Jan worked as an educational aide in the Albemarle School system, where she helped children with special needs fit into the mainstream., Jan is survived by her children Christine Londen and her husband, Ron, James Duistermars, Dayna Hudgin and her husband, Brent; grandchildren Carissa Baldwin and her husband, Jason, Kate Londen, Bethany Londen and her fiancee, Colt Allgood, Taylor, Luke and Cole Hudgin; as well as great-grandchildren, Paige and Jack Baldwin. Each will dearly miss being called, "Sweet Baby"., A memorial service for Janet Duistermars will be held at First Baptist Church on Park Street 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009. |

CORNELL-BOWEN Michelle (Shelly) Cornell-Bowen On November 25, 2009 it will have been 4 years since Shelly passed. Not a day goes by that we are not reminded of her beauty, intellect and unconquerable spirit. She lived life as few of us could ever aspire. Though hard to put into words, Mark Twain's quotation comes closest, " Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you've never been hurt and live like it's heaven on Earth." There are few moments in life that allow you to feel heaven on earth, but when my mind wonders to thoughts of Shelly it has to feel something like that Love Your Family |
