Mr. James Vincent Atkins, age 41, of 554 Petty St., Petersburg, departed this life Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, Richmond. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas Atkins. James was the youngest of seven children and was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Meade Atkins. He was a graduate of Dinwiddie High School and served in the United States Army. He was an employee at Smurfit (Stone–Container) for several years until his declining health. He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Stony Creek. Mr. Atkins leaves to cherish his memories his devoted parents, Robert and Sarah G. Atkins of Carson; two daughters, Charmaine D. and Alexandra R. Atkins; one son, Tyrese J. Atkins, all of Petersburg; five sisters, Charlotte (Jerry) Tazewell, Linda Atkins of Stony Creek, Sandra (Herbert) Wyatt, Phyllis (John) Harris of Dinwiddie and Jannice (Walter) Jones of Waverly; one brother, John T. Atkins of Petersburg; a mother-in-law, Embria Meade of Carson; two sisters-in-law, Cassandra Mottammed, Jessica R. Berger, Richard Malcolm

BERGER, Richard Malcolm, died at his home on Sunday, November 30, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born at Lynch's Station, Va., August 6, 1930. His parents were Alonzo Smith Berger and Virginia Susan Short Berger Oliver; his brothers, Arthur William Berger and Vincent Addison Berger preceded him in death. He graduated from Gretna High School and served in the United States Navy twice, the second time during the Korean War. After the war, he studied chemistry at Lynchburg College and continued his education at the night school of Richmond Professional Institute (now part of Virginia Commonwealth University). Mr. Berger worked 47 happy, rewarding years at U.S. Filter Company/American Filtrona Corp. He began there as Quality Control Chemist. Later he became Manager of Research and Development and a Vice-President. He was creative and diligent. His ideas yielded numerous U.S. Patents. His favorite leisure activity was golf, often at Bermuda Golf Club in Chesterfield County, where he enjoyed many friendships. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Bozarth Berger; and their daughter, Susan Ann Berger Ryan. His unpretentious dignity, charm and wit will be sorely missed by them and by all his family and friends. God bless them. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Gardens will be private. BOWMAN, Barbara Ann Inge, 70, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2008. She was born in Durham, N.C., raised in Petersburg, Va., and had been a Newport News resident for over 50 years. Mrs. Bowman retired from Copeland Toyota Volvo as a payroll administrator. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was very active on church committees and in the community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Bowman Sr.; and her father, George H. Inge Sr. Mrs. Bowman is survived by her daughter, Meredith Lynn Gragg and husband, Matthew, of Virginia Beach; son, Richard E. Bowman Jr. and wife, Stacy, of Providence Forge; mother, Annie Gill of Richmond; three brothers, Claude Inge and wife, Linda, of Richmond, George Inge and wife, Joan, of Marrero, La., and Gary Inge and wife, Debbie, of Hardyville; two grandchildren, Zachary Bowman and Cameron Gragg; additionally her very dear friend, Larry McKinney; along with her church family and many lifelong friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the ICU nursing staff and physicians at Mary Immaculate Hospital for their care and support during her illness. BRANCH, Dorothy "Dot," 82, of Chesterfield, widow of Richard B. Branch Sr., passed away December 3, 2008. She is survived by her son, Richard B. Dot traveled extensively as the wife of a career U.S. Navy veteran and was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association. She was also a longtime member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. CAMPBELL, Pauline Eleam "Polly," 91, of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 in Mary Washington Hospital. Born in Hamilton County, Tenn., she was a 1938 graduate of Horace Greeley School in New York and a 1942 graduate of the University of Tennessee's College of Nursing. Polly enlisted in the United States Navy Nurse Corps in 1942 and served during World War II. She was the widow of Ray S. Campbell Sr., whom she married December 1, 1944 in Pasco, Washington. After a 34-year career, she retired in 1983 as supervisor of the Emergency Room at Mary Washington Hospital. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Edward Campbell II and his wife, Nancy Thomas Campbell and their children, Emily Catherine Campbell, David Alexander Campbell, and Stephen Thomas Campbell; Daniel Elliott Campbell II and his wife, Kathy Trimmer and their children, Elliott Thomas Campbell, Anthony Daniel Campbell, and Kristina Elisabeth Campbell; and Ray S. Campbell Jr. and his wife, Kimberly Curtis Campbell and son, Brandon Dean Parks. D'Amato, Virginia L.

Virginia Lee D'Amato, age 81, of Longs, S.C., formerly of Prince George, Va., passed away on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, in the loving care of her family and special friends of the Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab Center of Shallotte, N.C. She was born on Sept. 25, 1927, in Hopewell, Va. She graduated from Carson High School in 1944 and attended Smithdeal Massey Business College. She met her husband, Tony, in 1948 and married him 20 days later. As the proud wife of an Army career soldier, she followed the love of her life to various military installations abroad and stateside with their three daughters in tow. Her travels led to a career with the U.S. Civil Service and spans a little over four decades. "Ginny," as she was known to colleagues, family and friends, was a dedicated civilian personnel employee. Duty assignments in Japan, Germany, Italy and Virginia included administrative clerk, secretary to civilian personnel officers; secretary to the commander of the 66th Military Intelligence Group; chief of the administrative section, Detachment D, 766th Military Intelligence Detachment; secretary to the dean, School of Acquisition Management; and management analyst. Over the course of her career, she received numerous awards and letters of commendation for her meritorious service and exemplary performance of duty. She retired from the Army Logistics Management Center at Fort Lee, Va., in 2000. She was actively involved in many clubs and charitable organizations including the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Army Community Services and the NCO Wives' Club. Ginny's generous and compassionate nature extended from her heart to others and she was always willing to reach out to those in need to offer friendship, support and understanding. Ginny will always be remembered for her sense of humor, quick wit and devotion to family. She loved reading, working on the computer, crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, and listening to the "tunes" of Rod Stewart, Kenny Rogers and Willie Nelson. As her family and friends will attest, she had great enthusiasm and a passion for life. She will be sorely missed by those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Lee Fair (Robert Fair) of Sandusky, Ohio, Deborah Kaye Schnoor (Ron Schnoor) of Ocean Springs, Miss., Toni Lynn D'Amato-Teed of Longs, S.C.; her brother, Michael Dise (Jenny Dise) of Carson, Va.; her sister-in-law, Josephine Avella of Ozone Park, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Jessica Howard of Denver, Alisha Heath (Rob Heath) of Ramsey, Minn., Katie Howard of St. Paul, Minn., Ryan Schnoor (Melissa Schnoor) of Pascagoula, Miss., Zachary Schnoor of Ocean Springs, Miss., Garrett Anthony Teed of Longs, S.C.; six great-grandchildren; and best friend, Pam Ludwig, of Chester, Va. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful people at Autumn Care for their dedication and the personal attention given to Ginny. We are eternally grateful for the love and kindness shown to her and her family. Doumlele Jr., John Antony (Tony)

DOUMLELE, John Antony (Tony) Jr., 62, died on Friday, November 28, 2008 in Greenwich, Conn. from complications following surgery. Tony was born in Newport News on July 26, 1946 and grew up in Richmond. A champion swimmer for the AAU, he held 19 freestyle and butterfly state records in Virginia. Recruited by Phillips Exeter Academy, he was named New England Prep School Butterfly Champion, captain of the swimming team and one of his records was not broken for 20 years. A National Merit finalist, Tony was awarded the Charles M. O'Hearn scholarship to Yale University. His education was interrupted by service in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant, including Vietnam (1968-1969). He married Sabra Bissette in 1970, graduated from Yale in 1972, and received an MBA from Darden at UVA in 1976. His first marriage ended in divorce. In August of 1982, Tony married Leigh Grant of Greenwich. Currently employed at Bearing Point Management & Technology Consultants in Manhattan, Tony had served as Corporate Economist and Director of Corporate Relations at Moore McCormack Resources, Director of Investor Relations at Reader's Digest, Rayonier Inc., and Loral Space & Communications Ltd. He was co-founder and past president of the Fairfield/Westchester chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute, former president of the board of the Child Care Center of Stamford, and a former director of the New York Investor Relations Institute. The family resides in Norwalk, Conn. in Silvermine. Tony is survived by his wife, Leigh Grant, and their two children, Nicholas and Kyra Doumlele, his mother, Ruth Doumlele of Midlothian, and his sister, Suzanne Owen of Richmond. He is pre-deceased by his father, John Antony Doumlele. He is also survived by two nephews, John Grant of Stamford, Conn. and Randall Owen of Williamsburg and two nieces, Courtney Mattes of Richmond and Ann Grant of Stamford, Conn. John Tow English Sr., of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2008. He was born on August 28, 1916, to the late Haywood and Amelia English. John attended Bedford County Schools. At an early age he was united in Marriage to Jessie C. Campbell and to this union nine children were born. He was a loving and faithful husband for 69 years. He joined Emanuel Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1940 under the leadership of Bishop S.N. Brown and remained faithful to the ministry until his death. He was always ready to further the work of the ministry and served as a member of the Trustee Board. John loved his family and would always share his family history with those who would listen. He was a great inspiration to all who knew him. John imparted joy into the lives of others and was always ready to give and help others. He gave his children the wisdom and knowledge needed to face difficulties of life and often told us work don't hurt nobody. He labored and took care of his family., In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three children, Ruth Watkins, Elsie Pritchett and John English Jr.; five sisters, Mary Vonnie Harris, Mamie Gault, Ethel Goode, Bernice Mayo and Clara Whitten; and three brothers, Matthew, Joseph, and Adnor English., Those left to rejoice in his memory are his wife, Jessie C. HARMAN, Martha Shaffer. On December 3, 2008, God welcomed home Martha Shaffer Harman, just 16 days short of her 100th birthday. Born December 19, 1908 in Bowmansdale, Pa., she was the youngest of three. Martha was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Ralph Charles Harman. Together they were dedicated members of Berryman Methodist Church in South Richmond, and for many years, Martha volunteered at the Methodist Home for Ladies. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Westover Hills United Methodist Church. Martha "Nanny" is survived by her only child, Ralph Charles Harman Jr. and his wife, Jackquelyn Collier Harman; grandsons, Ralph Charles III "Chip" and wife, Linda, Alan Scott Harman and Noel Craig Harman and wife, Rebecca Toy; great-grandchildren, Steven Michael, Sarah Elizabeth, Thomas Wyeth and Bruce Craig. The Harman family is grateful to Mrs. Brenda Hatcher who, along with her extended family, was Martha's caregiver for 12 years, allowing her to live out her days in her home. Visitation will be at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd., on Friday, December 5, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. On Wednesday, December 3, 2008, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend, Eva Mae Taylor (Sallie) Harris, of Buchanan, Va., left this earthly home to enter into her Heavenly Home to rejoin all the loving family and friends who have gone on before her. On May 20, 1932, Eva Mae "Sallie" Taylor, was born to the late Leo Taylor and Della Campbell Taylor in Buchanan, Va. She was the second born child, whose sister, Betty Taylor Welch; and two brothers, Wesley "Nubbin" Taylor, and Thomas "John Henry" Taylor (wife, Becky), survive her. Sallie was married on December 28, 1950, to Harry Bolen Harris Jr., who died on February 14, 1988. Daddy and Mama operated a local grocery store in Buchanan for over 20 years. Mama also worked at the Buchanan Elementary School for 20 + years., She and Daddy worked at the Buchanan Theatre most weekends for many years. Mama was a faithful member of the Buchanan Baptist Church for over 60 years. She especially served the children of the church as the Beginner Sunday School Class teacher for 50+ years, beginning with Mrs. Mabel Brubaker and continuing with the children's class until her death. Mama was a member of the Hazel Moon Circle, and the Mt. Joy Rebekah Lodge, serving in many officer positions throughout the years. She was also a member of the Buchanan Town Improvement Society and the Red Hat Society. Mama felt great joy in volunteering with the local Meals on Wheels program., Survivors include her children, Vicki and Jim Eubank, and Nicki and Cindy Harris; grandson and spouse, James Edward and Crystal Eubank; and the most special lights of her life her great-grandchildren, Caleb and Olivia. There are also many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law; and other family and friends. Also, preceding her in death this past year, was her dear friend, Glenna Berry., to others. MARCHANT, John Roland, 95, of Irvington, formally of Richmond, died on December 2, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lillian ("Lil") Reilly Mar-chant, on May 21, 2008; his son, John Roland Marchant, Jr.; his brother, Avalon Blackburn Marchant, Jr.; sisters, Virginia Marchant Mills and Emily Marchant Hilbert. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Christine M. and Charles C. Chase II of Kilmarnock; his son and daughter-in-law, W. Reilly and Beth Marchant of Richmond; four grandchildren, Meg and Reilly Marchant, Marchant Chase and wife Susan; and Anne Gilbert Chase; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong family friend Virginia Burton of Urbanna. He was born in Middlesex County on September 13, 1913, and later lived in Urbanna. He graduated from Christ Church School and attended Hampden-Sydney College. In 1936 he began his career of 42 years with Miller & Rhoads Department Store in Richmond, retiring as President and CEO in 1978. After retirement, he and Lil moved to Irvington, Virginia, where they remained until their passing. John served in many capacities, on many civic associations and boards, including United Virginia Bank, Richmond Memorial Hospital, Richmond Eye Hospital, Virginia State Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army, the Richmond Symphony, Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Retail Merchants Association, Collegiate School, and Christ Church School. He was a member of the Commonwealth Club, Country Club of Virginia, and Indian Creek Yacht and County Club. While he was a great success in his professional life, he was even more of a success in his personal life. He maintained a strong faith in God, and garnered respect, admiration, and love from all who knew him. To his very core he was a kind, decent and good person, who was remarkably humble and giving as a husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered lovingly by all who knew him, including his many friends among the staff at Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury in Irvington. She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marie Sexton. She was the loving wife of William T. McFarland who died in 1998. She was a graduate of Maury High School. She has gone home to be with her mother, father and husband. She is survived by her son, William T. MOORE, Dr. Robert Patrick, 87, of Richmond, died December 2, 2008 after a brief illness. He was a son of the late Dr. Ray Atkinson Moore and Pauline Smith Moore. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Reynolds Moore; his daughter, Ellen M. Walk and her husband, John; son, Robert P. Moore Jr. and his wife, Marilyn; grandchildren, Sarah P. Walk, John R. Walk Jr., Robert A. Moore, and Michael P. Moore; his brothers Dr. John A. Moore and William A. Moore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Ray A. Moore Jr. Born in Charlotte County Va., he grew up in Hampden-Sydney Virginia, where his father served as college physician for Hampden-Sydney College and Longwood College, in addition to a general practice in Farmville. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1943, and the Medical College of Virginia in 1946, subsequently serving his internship at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. He served active duty in the United States Navy from 1947 to 1950. After a one-year residency in Pathology at Charlotte Memorial Hospital in Charlotte N.C., he completed a two-year residency in Internal Medicine at the McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond, Va. After four years of private practice of Internal Medicine in Spartanburg S.C., he returned to Richmond to practice at Ennion G. Williams Hospital. Dedicated to his patients and students, he taught at MCV, and later practiced and taught at the McGuire VA Hospital. He retired in 1986. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, and previously a member of River Road Presbyterian Church, where he was a Ruling Elder. The family will receive friends at 10806 Whitaker Woods Rd. on Friday, December 5, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, December 6, at 2:30 pm at First Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow at the church. NORWOOD, Margueritte Wilson, 92, died on the first of December 2008 at The Hermitage in Richmond after several years of declining health. Miss Norwood was born in Oxford, N.C., and moved with her family to Virginia in 1917. She graduated from John Marshall High School and worked in the insurance industry throughout her professional career, retiring as an officer of the First Commonwealth Life Insurance Company of Richmond. She was an active member of Northminster Baptist Church for many years, serving as a teacher and director of the Youth Department, as a Deacon, and member of the finance committee. In her church work, she had a real ability to make a positive difference in the lives of young people. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Nathaniel and Hattie Lee Wilson Norwood; her sisters, Isabelle Norwood Adams, Josephine Norwood and Inez Norwood Fridley; and brothers, William, Henry, Robert, and James Norwood. She is survived by her nieces, Inez Fridley, Sandra Fridley, Joanne Fridley, Isabelle Thierfeldt and Jeanette Wise; and great-nieces and nephews. STEADMAN, Dorothy D., 86, died peacefully December 2, 2008 in Richmond, Va., after a short illness. Born in Aurora, N.C., she moved to Norfolk, Va. when she was four years old and lived most of her life there except for two years in Hawaii, two years in Washington, D.C. and, most recently, in Richmond for the past 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Brooks Steadman. She is survived by her loving son, Dr. Robert Brooks Steadman and his wife, Susan; and their children, Charles Brooks Steadman, Robert Grant Steadman and Caroline Frances Steadman, all of Richmond. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 6, 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 12991 River Road, Richmond, Va., 23238. Stewart, Naomi Ruth

Naomi Ruth Gates Stewart, RN, 74, of Radford, Va., departed for her home in Heaven on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, after a brief bout with cancer. Born July 21, 1934, in Plasterco, Va., she died at home with family by her side. Ruth was preceded in death by her father, William Neal Gates, of Pulaski. She is survived by her mother, Vandell Elizabeth Smith Gates Minton, of Radford. Ruth is also survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles Wade Stewart Jr.; a son, Richard Alan Stewart, MD, and his wife, Ginger, of Charlottesville; a son, Charles Wade Stewart III, DDS, and his wife, Kathleen, of Hampton; a daughter, Julia Ann Stewart, of Ashburn; a son, William Neal Stewart, and his wife, Nanette, of Radford; six grandsons and four granddaughters, Andrew, Katey, and Christopher Stewart, of Charlottesville, Jake and Skyla Stewart, of Hampton, Danny and Carly Daly, of Ashburn, and Malcolm, Ronan, and Anneliese Stewart, of Radford. Also surviving is her brother, Harry Lee Gates, and his wife, Jean, of Pulaski; her sister, Maude Gates Brodd, of Dawsonville, Ga.; and nine nieces and nephews., Ruth was dearly loved by her husband, children and grandchildren, her bridge buddies, nursing school classmates, fellow church members and a multitude of other friends. She was an active member of Circle #1 of the First Presbyterian Church of Pulaski, a member of the Round Dozen Club of Pulaski, a hard-working volunteer of the Community Yard Sale, a member of two bridge clubs, a member of the Good Neighbor Club, a member of the Pulaski Christian Women's Club and a founding member of the NRV Women's Connection (Christian Women's Club). She loved to be with people, as shown by her many various and charitable works. A Golden Hokie and holder of season tickets along with her husband Charles, Ruth was a passionate fan of Virginia Tech football and TechSideline.com, managed by her son, William., Ruth excelled at her career chosen at age four as a Registered Nurse. A graduate of the Pulaski School of Nursing in 1954, she was the first head nurse of the first recovery room at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. A member of the first Coronary Monitoring Unit established at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Ruth was the accompanying transportation nurse when one of Viginia's first heart transplant patients, Joseph Klett, was moved from Charlottesville to the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Charlottesville citizens will remember her as the caring, efficient office nurse of Dr. William Pollard, Dr. James Twyman, Dr. James Knight, and her son Dr. Richard Stewart. She will also be remembered as a teacher of geriatric care at Piedmont Community College, and a hard worker of the Charlottesville Daily Bread., s will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church of Pulaski, 408 N. In 1982, she began her successful voyage as the owner and operator of the long-standing and well-known Sandpiper Restaurant in White Stone. It continues to thrive by the loyalty of her customers and devoted employees. TAPSCOTT, George Wiley, 86, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Katheryn; sons, Craig Tapscott of Los Angeles, Calif., and Steve Tapscott and his wife, Lisa, of Midlothian, Va. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Tapscott and his wife, Mary Lou; two stepdaughters, Cynthia Amend of Dayton, Ohio, and Jancie Baum and her husband, Jim, of Midlothian; and five stepgrandchildren. Mr. Tapscott was a retired store manager of Sears & Roebuck in Richmond, a WWII Marine veteran and was a former secretary and longtime contributing member of Bon Air Rotary Club. He was a member and a deacon of Southampton Baptist Church in Richmond. The family will receive friends this Friday, December 5, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. THALHIMER, Nancy P., 75, of Richmond, Va., passed away peacefully at home December 4, 2008, surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Alice Passloff; and her brother, Richard Passloff of Richmond. Nancy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Morton G. Thalhimer Jr.; a son, Morton G. Thalhimer III and his wife, Patti, of Richmond; a daughter, Leigh T. Linnell and her husband, Bob, of Portland, Ore.; and a son, Richard L. Thalhimer and his wife, Amy, of Richmond. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Barbara Passloff of White Plains, N.Y.; and a niece, Lynn Drucker of Laurel, Md. Additional survivors include six grandchildren, Sarah and David Thalhimer of Richmond, Evan and Alexandra Thalhimer of Richmond, Austin and Daniel Linnell of Portland, Ore.; and a cousin, Lee Wolff and his wife, Pamela, of Cleveland, Ohio. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Nancy was an avid outdoor person, enjoying tennis and golf over the greater portion of her life. She further enjoyed skiing for 50 years with her three children, their spouses and grandchildren. Nancy was involved with many organizations and cared greatly about the well being of our community, particularly for our health care institutions. She served tirelessly for 20 years on two separate boards of Sheltering Arms Hospital. She worked diligently and participated in the change from a conventional hospital to a top-rated rehabilitation facility. Nancy was loved and admired not only by her family, but also by a large circle of Richmond friends. She had numerous friendships throughout the country acquired through her 17 years at the Harbour Ridge Club in Stuart, Fla. She will be missed, but her spirit and joyful outlook lives on through her children, grandchildren and an abundance of friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, 2008, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Bliley's - Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond. Interment will be private. Marion H. Tillett SUFFOLK - Marion Helena Tillett, 89, of the 1000 block of Belle Orchard Lane, entered into eternal rest Dec. 1, 2008. Born in Norfolk County, she was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. Marion was the widow of Eddie Tillett and a retired beautician. She was predeceased by her son, Charles Haynes. She is survived by her stepchildren, Ada Brockett, John Tillett and Margaret Crawford; her granddaughter, Felicia Harris; her daughter-in-law, Debra Haynes; two sisters, Della Bradford and Sarah Robinson both of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces and nephews. TOLLESON, Joyce Marie, lovingly known as Mammy, age 50, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 1, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Tolleson; and daughter, Amanda Beth Morelli and her husband, Kristopher; and three grandchildren, Ryann Elizabeth, Madelyn Joy, and Hayden Thomas. She is also survived by her mother, Kathleen Weaver and husband, Walter; and her father, William Megginson and wife, Annie; other survivors include sisters, Judy Pollard and husband, Tom, Trudy Wood and husband, Alan, Monica Garrett and husband, Victor; her brothers, Jimmy Megginson and wife, Roxie Kenny Megginson, and Alan Megginson. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Kenny Megginson and wife, Cassie, Samantha Clark, her husband, Donnie, and their son, Brandon, Seth and Caleb Megginson, Aaron Pollard, and Alexia and Colby Garrett. Joyce was a registered nurse, who spent over a decade as an acute dialysis nurse and supervisor. She then found her calling using her skills, kindness, and empathy in hospice while working for Hospice Community Care. Everyone that knew Joyce truly respected her nursing idealism and professional abilities. Her example led daughter, Amanda, into becoming a registered nurse also. She will be remembered by all for her unfailing love and devotion to her family; her heartfelt care for the very ill and aged; and her unlimited concern for children and animals. A memorial service will be held at Bon Air Presbyterian Church, 9201 W. Huguenot Road, Richmond, Virginia at 11 a.m. on Saturday December 6, 2008. Mr. Williams was born in Pasquotank County, North Carolina, the son of the late George Taylor Williams and Nancye Whedbee Williams and was the husband of 60 years to Kathleen Gregory Williams. Mr. Williams was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Navy in both World War II and the Korean War.
