Janice Gay Moretti CHESAPEAKE - Janice Gay Moretti, born Nov. 27, 1936, died quietly at home Oct. 8, 2009. Her family was at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her father, H.E. "Mouse" Spencer; her mother, Kathleen A. Spencer; her daughter, Kay Addison Davidson, who died tragically in 1997 as a result of a drunk driver and her ex-husband, Vincent Moretti. Janice is survived by her son, Gary Vincent Moretti; a grandchild, Benjamin V. Moretti; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Moretti; Janice's brother, William E. "Billie" Spencer and his son, David Spencer and his sister, Jill DeCarlis; her uncle, Francis Spencer and his wife Betty and their two children Michael and Gregory; her dear friend, Carolyn Wilson who devoted much of her time to spend with Janice during her final months. Carolyn provided Janice with friendship, love and spiritual guidance. Janice will also be missed by her dear friend, Debbie. Janice also had many other friends and relatives that will miss her greatly. Janice also had a special cat, buddy and companion, Kittyboy. Janice's humble, kind and polite way in which she carried herself throughout her life did touch many people. Janice did not build friendships or relationships around anyone's money or possessions. She had a way of letting people she met know that it was OK to come as you are and be yourself. Her son will tell you that she had a very rare type of kindness and one of her first words of advice to him when he was a child was "You should never judge a person by their color; it's wrong to do that." When Janice was a child, a young adult and a senior, she had many health challenges that would have given someone with a harder heart a very bad attitude about life in general. Janice remained a very positive and nurturing person in spite of all of the health challenges that she had to endure throughout her life. Janice did know the Lord and is with Him now. Janice will be missed tremendously by her family, friends and, of course, Kittyboy. Janice would be the first person to tell anyone not to make a fuss over her. We have decided to have a special remembrance/celebration of her life which includes a gathering of family, friends and anyone who would like celebrate the special person that Janice was on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Between noon to 1 p.m. Carolyn Wilson will speak from her heart and share her experiences with Janice during that time. This will take place at Old Donation Apartments' Clubhouse, 4441 East Honey Grove Court, Virginia Beach. The clubhouse is on Charity Drive within the apartment complex; just following the signs to the pool area. Food and refreshments will be provided.
